Courier: The Unattainable Unicorn

Some of you might of heard of the Courier before, but it seems like this wonderful device will never make it to the millions of interested consumers.  I’ve been hearing about this device for a while now and thought it was a really good idea, but never seen any pictures or videos, until now:

This video affected me more emotionally than a full-length film ever has;  I seriously shed a tear.  The user experience on this device is like nothing I have ever seen, it is elegantly beautiful.  I never thought as myself as a tablet kind of person mostly because its functionality is based on a large smartphone except without the phone part, but this, this is something different altogether.  This is utilitarian, functional and fashionable; something I can use every day for work, my personal projects and day to day play.  I have to commend Microsoft for their innovative research in the user experience realm as of late, but I also condemn them for not manufacturing this device.  Why do you have to tease us so much?

Knowing Microsoft, I doubt they will let another company buy their hard work to make this product a reality.  Like Robbie Bach said, the device won’t exist, but he’s “absolutely confident… a bunch of that innovation will show up in Microsoft products.”  Guess we’ll have to see, but for now, I’ll just go comfort myself with a tub of ice cream and a lot of beer.
