Adobe is doing a North American tour to talk about the Flash Player and some of the latest changes to the platform. Mike Chambers and Lee Brimelow will swing by at our usual location on April 12th, so please sign up. The marketing spiel after the break.

Join us for an evening with Mike Chambers & Lee Brimelow from Adobe. This will be a good opportunity to speak directly with Adobe, ask questions, and discuss recent changes around the Flash Player.

The Future of Flash – Mike Chambers

In this session, Mike will lead a discussion around recent changes and announcements around the Flash Platform. He will then spend some time laying out the roadmap for the Flash Player, and discuss the direction in which the player will evolve, including the general focus of the player and the ActionScript language and AVM (ActionScript Virtual Machine). In addition to discussing the Flash roadmap, we will be showing off the latest Flash and Adobe AIR content, give some sneak peeks on upcoming releases, and setting aside plenty of time for open discussions and Q&A.

Adobe Gaming Technology – Lee Brimelow

In this session Gaming Evangelist Lee Brimelow will reveal the latest technologies being worked on by Adobe for game developers. They will show how these technologies allow developers to create casual 2D games in addition to AAA 3D games. Current best practices will also be discussed.

This will also be streamed on my ustream channel for those who can’t attend in person.

Adobe Tour 2012 in NYC

Some of you may have heard Adobe’s announcement that they were doing a world-wide tour revolving around Flex. Adobe grant me to honour to host the event at our monthly meetup. Christophe Coenrats and Alan Greenblatt (of Adobe) spoke about the latest new, and Jeff Tapper (of Digital Primates) represented the Spoon Foundation and what’s going on with Apache and which role Spoon has to do with it.

New York Flex Meetup Videos

Last night we had another meetup at the Lab49 hideout. This time around, we had my co-worker and friend Paul Taylor present on Adobe’s RTE & TLF engine as well as his alternative project, TinyTLF. As an added bonus, we had the founder of GraniteDS, Franck Wolff, come talk to us about what Granite can do for us and our project.

Flex Spoon!

Spoon is a new project created by Flex expert Michael Labriola to create a community driven Flex SDK. It’s also a play-on word of GitHub’s ‘fork‘ since the project doesn’t diverge off from the Flex SDK, but instead keeps up with it as well as merge in community created patches and enhancements.

In a way, this project (once it gets started in full force) will be one step ahead of Adobe because of the sheer number of developer resources out there on the web. Definitely something to keep an eye on, so please sign up and contribute!
